Your air conditioner has a hidden road. It runs inside your wall or above your ceiling. It joins the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. The gas that makes cold air travels along this road. The road is a set of copper pipes.
If the pipes are bad, the AC is bad. It does not matter how new the machine is. Quick AC Pro installs and fixes AC copper piping all over Riyadh. We do it for homes, villas, shops, and offices. Here is what you should know before you start.
AC copper piping is a pair of thin copper tubes. One tube is thick. One tube is thin. They carry the cooling gas between your two AC units.
The gas leaves the outdoor unit. It goes to the indoor unit. It picks up the heat from your room. Then it goes back outside to drop that heat. This cycle runs again and again all day.
The pipes must be strong. They must be clean. They must not leak. If one tiny hole opens, the gas escapes. Then the AC stops cooling.
Copper is the standard for AC pipes. There are good reasons.
Copper bends without breaking when it is handled well.
Copper does not rust the way steel does.
Copper moves heat very well.
Copper joins together cleanly with a brazing torch.
Copper lasts for many years when it is sealed and insulated.
That is why almost every AC in Riyadh uses it.
Many people think piping work is only for a new AC. That is not true. You may need it in these cases:
You buy a new AC and the old pipes do not fit.
You move an AC to a new room or wall.
You build a new villa and need pipes before the walls close.
Your old pipes leak, or they look green and rough.
The pipes were cut or damaged during a repair job.
You want to hide the pipes inside the wall for a clean look.
Your indoor and outdoor units sit far apart and you need longer pipes.
If any of this matches your home, call us. We will look at it first. Then we will tell you what you really need.
For a new AC, we measure the path first. We pick the shortest safe route. Short pipes work better than long pipes. They also cost less.
We cut the copper to size. We bend it with the right tool. We never kink it. A kinked pipe blocks the gas and hurts the compressor.
Old pipes can crack, leak, or fill with dirt. When that happens, a new pipe is the safest fix. We remove the old line. We clean the path. We fit new copper and new insulation.
Sometimes the outdoor unit must sit far from the indoor unit. We add pipe length the right way. We use proper joints. We check the gas level after, because longer pipes may need a little more gas.
In Riyadh, many villas use concealed ACs. People call them “maghfi” units. The unit hides above the ceiling. The pipes run inside the wall or ceiling void. This work must be neat. Once the wall is closed, nobody can reach the pipe. So we test everything before we close it.
Not every pipe is the same size. Each AC has its own needs. The size depends on the machine type and its power.
A thin pipe wall can fail under pressure. A thick wall costs more. We choose a wall thickness that fits your AC type. We do not use weak, thin copper to save money.
Every AC has a safe maximum pipe length. If the run is too long, the cooling drops. If it is very long, you may need extra gas or a height fix. We check the maker’s limits before we start.
If the outdoor unit sits much higher or lower than the indoor unit, oil in the system can get stuck. This harms the compressor. We plan for this on tall villas and roof units.
The thick pipe carries cold gas. Cold pipe in hot Riyadh air gets wet. Water drops form on the outside. This is called sweating.
Sweating pipes drip. They stain ceilings. They can ruin paint and gypsum boards. Good foam insulation stops this. It also keeps the cold gas cold, so your AC works better.
We wrap both pipes. We seal the joints. We cover the parts that sit in the sun, because the sun breaks down bad foam fast. For outdoor runs, we add a tough outer wrap.
Step 1: Site check. We look at both unit spots and the route between them.
Step 2: Plan the path. We pick the shortest path with the fewest bends.
Step 3: Cut and bend. We cut clean. We bend slowly. We keep the pipe round.
Step 4: Braze the joints. We join pieces with heat and filler. We push dry nitrogen through the pipe during this step. That stops black flakes from forming inside.
Step 5: Pressure test. We fill the line with nitrogen and watch the gauge. If the pressure drops, there is a leak. We find it and fix it.
Step 6: Vacuum. We pull all air and wet air out of the line. Moisture inside an AC makes acid and ruins parts.
Step 7: Insulate and fix. We wrap the pipes and fix them to the wall.
Step 8: Release the gas and test. We open the valves and check cooling, pressure, and sound.
Some workers skip the vacuum. They save ten minutes. But the AC then breaks a few months later.
Air and water vapor inside the system cause real harm. They lower cooling power. They make the compressor work too hard. They can mix with oil and make acid. That acid eats the parts from inside.
A proper leak test also protects you. A small leak may not show for weeks. The AC just feels weaker each day. Then the gas is gone. A good nitrogen test finds that leak before the job ends.
Look for these signs:
The AC runs but the room stays warm.
Ice builds up on the thin or thick pipe.
You see oily spots near the joints.
You hear a hissing sound near the pipe.
The pipe has green or white powder on it.
Your power bill goes up for no clear reason.
You need gas again and again.
Needing gas often is a big warning. Gas does not get used up. If it keeps going, there is a leak somewhere. Often it is in the pipe or at a joint.
Cassette ACs sit inside the ceiling. They need longer pipe runs and a drain pump line. Floor-standing (cabinet) ACs use larger pipes because they are stronger machines. We size each job for its machine. We never use a one-size-fits-all pipe.
Riyadh summers are very hot. Outdoor pipes sit under strong sun for months. Cheap foam turns hard and cracks. Plastic clips snap. Sand and dust get into every gap.
So we plan for this heat. We use sun-safe wrap on pipes that stay outside. We use strong clips. We keep outdoor joints to a minimum, because every joint is a place where trouble can start. A pipe that is built for Riyadh will last longer than one built the quick way.
You can help the job go faster. It takes only a few minutes.
Clear space around both unit spots.
Show us where your electric wires and water lines run.
Tell us if the wall will be painted or tiled soon.
Move furniture away from the work area.
Share any old plan of the house, if you have one.
This helps us avoid drilling near wires or water pipes. It also helps us choose a route that looks clean when we finish.
Pipes bent too sharply, so the wall is crushed.
Joints made without nitrogen, so the inside is dirty.
No vacuum, so the system holds water vapor.
No insulation on the thick pipe, so it drips.
Pipes left bare in the sun.
Pipes too long for the AC.
Joints hidden in the wall with no test.
If someone did bad work in your home, do not worry. We can fix it. We will show you the problem first so you understand it.
We do not give a made-up price over the phone for every case. The cost changes with a few facts:
How long the pipe run is
The AC type and size
Whether the pipes are open or hidden in the wall
How hard it is to reach the route
Whether we must remove old pipes first
The thickness and brand of copper you choose
After a quick look, we give you a clear price. No surprise fees later.
Do not hang things on the pipes.
Keep the outdoor pipe cover in good shape.
Check the insulation once a year.
Fix any drip right away.
Tell us if a worker will drill near the pipe path.
Book a yearly check before summer.
We handle every AC type, split, cassette, cabinet, and concealed.
We test with nitrogen and we vacuum every line.
We insulate every pipe the right way.
We tell you the problem in plain words.
We give a clear price before work starts.
We work in all parts of Riyadh.
